  • St Peter's Advent Trail

Welcome to the Advent in Ardingly Trail There are 24 Advent windows hidden in homes, shops and buildings around the village. Each day in December one window will be turned round to reveal part of the story of Christmas. There is a letter in a star on each window which will become visible on its day in Advent. To join our search, either collect a copy of the Code Box from St Peter's Church, or download a copy here. Once you have collected all the letters, fill in the code box to reveal the hidden message. Can’t find today’s window? Clues will be posted daily on Facebook ...

  • Remembrance Sunday Update

As a result of the recent government regulations, plans for a Remembrance Sunday service on the Recreation Ground have had to be revised. There will now be a short Act of Remembrance which will start at 10.45am. This will include a two minute silence and wreath laying. The regulations require us to discourage attendance, but if you do happen to be at the Rec around this time, please would you wear a mask to protect those who are attending as part of the service. To allow everyone the opportunity to participate in their own act of remembrance, St Peter’s Church will be open during the ...

  • Worship @ Home 5 July 2020

Good morning and welcome to this Sunday’s ‘Worship at Home’.  Let’s be still for a moment as we draw near to worship God and let’s take just a few seconds to remind ourselves why we’re gathered today.  And listen too, because God speaks even through the background noise of the world around us...   After a few moments of silence say this prayer quietly.   Lord Jesus, in a universe that seems so immense it is easy to feel insignificant as we gather here today. Yet we know that we are precious in your sight – unique individuals loved and blessed in...

  • Worship@Home Sunday 28th June 2020

Welcome to Worship@Home on this, the Third Sunday after Trinity.   Let’s begin with praise, with this hymn celebrating Jesus’ extraordinary love for each one of us:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoV4koFy-Is   I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how he could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean.   Refrain: How marvellous! How wonderful! And my song shall ever be: How marvellous! How wonderful is my Saviour's love for me! He took my sins and my sorrows, he made them his very own; he bore the burden to Calvar...

  • A pastoral message from our Rector - July 2020

Dear Friends, An email ‘pinged’ into my inbox this morning reminding me that this week is Loneliness Awareness Week [15th – 20th June 2020].  As the authors of the email reminded me, amidst the continuing coronavirus lockdown this is more topical than ever.  But even before the lockdown, loneliness was a profoundly serious issue. When we think of the lonely our thoughts perhaps instinctively turn towards that older person, now living on their own.  But in truth, anyone can feel lonely and at any age; even when surrounded by people, and even when they have many friends or acqu...

  • Worship @ Home: Second Sunday after Trinity

Good morning and welcome to this Sunday’s ‘Worship at Home’.  Let’s begin with a moment of stillness and quiet as we prepare to meet with the Lord Jesus in our worship this morning.  Either be still and quiet and allow your mind to empty of any distractions or if you looking at this on-line take a moment to listen to this music from ‘SaltOfTheSound.   Turn your eyes upon Jesus:  https://youtu.be/-dFfLt2Bd3o   And now pray these words of praise and honour and thanksgiving to Jesus.  Let us pray.   Lord Jesus, we come to give you honour and...

  • Worship @ Home - Sunday 14 June 2020

Good morning and welcome to this Sunday’s ‘Worship at Home’.  As you begin just take a moment to set to one side any thoughts of those other things you might have to do today, any thoughts of what you might have to do in the week that is ahead, be still for a moment and bring all of your thoughts, your full attention to our compassionate, loving God.  In the stillness, be aware of his presence, his power and his might and be aware too that he looks with eyes of compassion at out helplessness and at our need.  From deep inside he looks at us with love.   And so, let’...
